June 1-4 Announcements

Welcome to the Tuesday that feels like a Monday! I hope everyone enjoyed their holiday weekend and that this short week actually feels short.

I finished registering all the courses I could with ASHA today. There may be some corrections, but I'm anticipating that there will be no problems for Speech Pathologists looking to extend their clinical knowledge and receive ASHA CEUs.

There is still space available in this Friday's Essentials of Praxis Intervention for Children with Autism in Charleston, IL.

Friday is also the super saver deadline for Neuro 101 and Sensory Processing in Corpus Christi, TX July 30-31, 2010; the early bird registration deadline for TARGET Your Treatment in Memphis, TN July 16-17; and the registration deadline for Clinical Reasoning and Treatment Planning for Praxis Intervention June 10 and Goal Attainment Scaling as a Meaningful Outcome Measure for Sensory Integration: A Training Program June 11 in Ronkonkoma, NY.

A reminder that you can connect with your fellow participants on our Facebook page and RSVP for the courses you're attending on their event pages.

Planning for 2011 has begun and we're hoping you'll share your input with us in the comments, on Facebook or through Twitter.

May 24-28, 2010 Announcements

PDP has received our ASHA CE Providership, and I've been trying to wrap my head around distilling our course descriptions into 300 character (including spaces and punctuation, thankyouverymuch), past tense, people-first, SLP-focused blurbs. Before immersing myself in registering all 18 of our courses, this week's announcements:

1. Professional Development Programs and Products is an ASHA Approved Continuing Education Provider again!

Starting at the end of June, all our courses will be registered with the ASHA CE Board.

2. This Friday's deadlines:
Sensory Integration and Beyond: Power Tools for Treating Children July 9-10 in Willowbrook (Chicago), IL has its early bird registration deadline.

3. Gravity and Movement Challenged: The Sensory-Motor-Vestibular Triad June 25-26 in Rochester, MN has been approved for 12.0 Category 1 hours by the Minnesota Board of Physical Therapy.

4. Don't forget the Summer Sale!

5. Remember to send in your submissions for the PDP Scholarship. Details can be found on the Symposium page. Lori recently opened up the scholarship to cover all PDP courses, not just the Symposium.

A special "Thank You!" for all of you who came out to the Praxis course last weekend in Baltimore. I enjoyed meeting all of you and appreciated your patience while I endured my spring cold. Remember, you can reconnect with each other on the Facebook event page.

May 3-7, 2010 Announcements

Spring has sprung, and as you can see from the sky, it's been a rather moody one. But the lilacs that line our office parking lot are in full bloom. I confess, I've had to sneak outside for a little "scent break" during the day. Nothing like the delicious fragrance of flowers to encourage deep breathing.

Friday, May 7 deadlines:

It's the registration deadline for the Partners with a Purpose: Occupational & Speech Therapy Using a Sensory Integration Approach May 14-15, 2010 in San Mateo, CA (San Francisco area).

Sensory Integration in the Classroom for November 19-20, 2010 in Albuquerque, NM is open for registration on our website. Register by September 24th and save $30 off the main tuition. Lee and Nikki have designed this course to help OTs/PTs explain the principles of Sensory Integration to classroom teachers, offer ideas for treatment in the classroom, and to encourage partnerships between the therapist and the educator. Teachers are encouraged to attend with their therapists.

On the Products side of Professional Development Programs and Products, please visit the Summer Sale page on our website. Bubbles, popular whistles and some of our more "outdoorsy" products have been marked down through August 31, 2010.

Mistakes do happen

It seems I had the wrong date in the e-mails sent out for the Essentials of Praxis Intervention for Children with Autism coming to Charleston, IL. The correct date is Friday, June 4, 2010.

I apologize for any inconvenience my error may have caused. And thank you to Laura for pointing it out to me.

Ah, Mondays! The start of a new week just seems the perfect time to get a few housekeeping things out of the way.

But first, a big THANK YOU to those of you who stopped by to see Cindy at the MN APTA's Move Forward event. She enjoyed meeting all of you.

Speaking of PTs, the Gravity & Movement Challenged held in College Station, TX March 12-13, 2010 and coming to Dallas, TX November 12-13, 2010 have been approved by the TX APTA, #47175A.

Welcome (and watch this space)

One thing great about having been in the business for 30 years is the connections we've made. For the last 13 years I've personally sat at registration tables all over the country witnessing school friends reconnecting, mentors running into their former students unexpectedly, and new friendships being made. Not to mention the faces that become familiar as I return to administer another course in the area.

We here at Professional Development Programs & Products - Lori, Cindy, Corrine, Linda, Silvia, Amber and Alexis - want to continue that feeling of community, even when we happen to be here in Stillwater and you happen to be where you call home. We started a Facebook page and opened a Twitter account last year. Now we're starting this blog.

Yes, we want to help get the word out about our one-of-a-kind, cutting-edge continuing education courses and what's new in Products. We also want to make it easier to reach out to all of you, and for you to reach out to each other. Keep your eyes open for announcements of special deals, new course listings, featured products, but also for guest blogs and Q&As with our speakers.

We hope to see you in the comments. Feel free to make suggestions of products you think we should be carrying, and topics and speakers you'd like to see. And anything else that crosses your mind. Without you and your support, we wouldn't have survived these past 30 years. And we are grateful.
